Description

Used in conjunction with our asbestos roof sealer and primer, Smartseal asbestos roof coating is a solvent-free acrylic roof coating product used to effectively waterproof as well as improve the appearance of corrugated asbestos cement roof tiles. The asbestos roof coating will also last for up to 10 years, to give complete peace of mind.

Climashield Asbestos Roof Coating is specially formulated to transform the look of old, asbestos roof tiles. Superior in performance to any roof paint that is readily available, it can really enhance the look of old asbestos roof tiles. It will also encapsulate any potentially dangerous asbestos fibres present and prevent them becoming airborne. Furthermore it aslso acts as an asbestos roof sealant as well as a coloured roof coating.

Climashield Asbestos Roof Coating is available in a variety of colours, including Anthracite, Slate Grey, Terracotta, Deep Tan, Rustic Red, Burgundy, Mahogany and Black. Once applied, the water resistant asbestos roof paint will improve the look and appearance of any asbestos roof tiles. It will also provide protection from the damaging effects of UV light. After it has been applied and left to dry, the newly painted asbestos roof tiles will look something like they did when orginally installed. They will aslo have significant lasting protection from the adverse effects of the weather. The water resistant asbestos roof paint will also help to inhibit the regrowth of moss, algae and lichen.

FEATURES:

  • Seals porous asbestos cement roof tiles and sheets
  • Helps seal and repair leaks in asbestos roof tiles
  • Available in 8 popular colours
  • Encapsulates harmful asbestos fibres
  • Provides long term protection
  • Offers good colour stability for up to 10 years
  • Water resistant
  • Protects from damaging UV rays

Our asbestos roof paint paint products are formulated with the very best quality pigments available. This gives greater resistance to colour loss from UV rays as well as providing excellent adhesion between the roof coating and tiles being coated.

The asbestos roof coating will also allow 'flexing' and movement within the roof tile. This important feature will help prevent any cracking or damage to the roof tiles during the freeze thaw process of hot and cold periods of weather.

Technical

PREPARATION:
Prior to application, it is essential all green growth, algae, black or white lichen or dirt on the roof tiles is completely cleaned off and removed. Failure to do so can lead to flaking, premature wear or de-lamination of the coating. Pre-treat the roof tiles with Smartseal ‘Green Clear’ or ‘Xtreme’ Roof Cleaner or an application of both. This will avoid the need for intensive pressure washing. Any remedial repairs should be carried out before applying.

APPLICATION:
Once fully clean and dry, apply one coat of Smartseal Primer at a ratio of 2-3 sqm per litre. This will improve adhesion and help to consolidate the asbestos fibres of the roof tiles. Once primer has fully dried, apply the coating by brush or airless sprayer, with no rain forecast for at least 4 hours. Prior and during use ensure the roof coating is thoroughly mixed with a plasterers ‘paddle’. To increase penetration and improve adhesion further, dilute 1st coat only with 1 part water to 4 parts coating. Ensure no sediment present.  Apply two coats with approximately 2-3 hours between coats.

COVERAGE:
Coverage: 4-6m² / litre per coat

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. Only apply to a dry substrate. Do not apply if rain is forecast 8-12 hours after application.
  2. Be aware of any Health & Safety considerations and guidance on working at height and with fragile surfaces like asbestos roof sheets.
  3. Wear appropriate PPE and follow the correct waste disposal protocols when working with asbestos.
